More and more people are joining the side hustle culture than ever before! According to statistics, close to 70% of Americans now report to having a side hustle, in addition to their regular jobs, according to the 2024 Side Hustle Report. Of these, millennials make up 55.4%, and baby boomers 18.40%.

What’s even more shocking is that the number was only at a 40% during the pandemic.

Starting a side hustle as soon as you can has become a popular advice of many who preach about financial stability and security.

And I couldn’t agree more. There are two reasons why having a side hustle in the 21 century is not a luxury, but a necessity.

One is, we live in an age of raging inflation. In the past year, the cost of living has risen exponentially. That means having a job and solely relying on it for a source of income just doesn’t cut it anymore.

And besides, as with any job, one day you have it, the next day you don’t. This was the biggest life lesson I learned during the pandemic.

I’ve also learned that in life, there are no guarantees for anything. Today you’re sitting on your cozy sofa watching TV. Tomorrow, you rack your brain on how to make more money…
