An Open Letter to 2021 (and 2022)
Year-end reflections.
2021,
You were a good year. Regardless of how much hate you may receive, know that I sincerely enjoyed you. I know things may not always have been perfect, but is that possible, anyway?
COVID was devastating, but we were in it together.
I finally got off online classes — they had begun to suck big time. The world I saw beyond my screen was awe-inspiring.
Thanks to being at home, I spent a lot of time with my family. And I’ll be eternally grateful for that.
University was busy, but I was involved in a ton of projects I felt passionate about. I found a community here; an organization where we do work that we cherish. I also watched my dreams finally materializing before my eyes.
What’s more, I found Medium in 2021. I realized that I actually have a passion for writing. And not just that — there are people here who actually want to read my content. I was in awe when a few people subscribed to receive my stories by mail. Wow. Although I haven’t been extremely consistent on this platform, the support I’ve received is incredible. One day I woke up to a comment that read, “You’re awesome. Please write more.” So here I am. Writing more.
So 2021, I am thankful you happened. The course was uncharted but the destination, mesmerizing nonetheless. You were a year of superb growth. Cheers to 2021.
As for 2022, I am pumped and optimistic about what it will hold. It will be a whirlwind, I’m sure, but it’s only getting better. Onwards and upwards.
