As artificial intelligence (AI) technology continues to advance, it’s becoming more and more integrated into our daily lives. From AI-powered language models like ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Midjourney, to AI chatbots used for customer service or even financial advice, we’re interacting with AI on a regular basis. But with this increased usage comes the risk of addiction.

I use the term “AIholic” to describe people who are addicted to AI technology. These individuals may spend excessive amounts of time using AI tools or may experience negative consequences from their usage, such as neglecting other responsibilities or social relationships.

While addiction to AI may not be as widely recognized as addiction to drugs or alcohol, the impact can still be significant. Studies have shown that excessive use of technology can have negative effects on mental health, including increased anxiety and depression.

However, it’s important to note that not all usage of AI technology is inherently problematic. In fact, AI can provide many benefits to individuals and society as a whole, from improving healthcare to advancing scientific research.

The key is to use AI in a responsible and balanced way. This means setting boundaries and limits on usage, taking breaks from technology, and engaging in other activities that promote physical and mental well-being.

In conclusion, the term “AIholic” may be a lighthearted way to describe the potential risks of excessive AI usage, but it’s important to recognize the potential consequences and take steps to use technology in a healthy way. Let’s strive to be mindful of our usage and create a balanced relationship with AI technology.
