CLAP ON YOUR OWN STORY
On the path of self evaluation and self appreciation
We are not born with the habit of depending on others for giving us the required feedback in whatsoever field it maybe. It is the society in which we live that we learn to crave for constant feedback on each and every action in life. Be it selecting an optional subject in school , choosing a career after graduation , making the choice of our life partner or even deciding on how to live.
When was the last time, you made a choice for your own happiness? When was the last time, you did not give a thought about what others would think of you while making a decision? When was the last time you smiled at others just because you were happy and not because you are taught to smile at others as a meaningful gesture ?
Why can’t we normalize thinking about our own self and not put it in the category of being selfish. Its high time that we all should understand , that we are living the life of a human being and not that of a business product which requires continuous feedback from its customers .
We are the authors of our life’s storybook, the writers of our own destiny, the publishers of our own work . Why not to clap at our own story ? Why not appreciate the way we are living our life ? Why to look at others comments, remarks, feedback as a parameter of our success instead of our own?
One of my well written stories did not get a single clap on Medium . I knew that I had given my best and wanted to appreciate myself. My single clap at that moment would have been equal to a hundred from others because I liked my work. Its not self obsession. Its self appreciation. So my fellow writers , from next time for every story you write give yourself a clap , if not possible technologically then do it physically .
Living your life means not only breathing everyday. It means loving your life while living it . You can love your life only when you live it according to your own belief systems and values .
When no one pats your back, be your own cheerleader and give yourself the required feedback!
