The start of the pandemic saw a lot of empty grocery store shelves

When the COVID pandemic was starting over a year ago, it was not uncommon to see empty shelves at grocery stores. Certain products, especially cleaning supplies and paper products, were in short supply. People became nervous and bought up large quantities so that they would not run out. Others could not find any to buy because the store shelves were empty.

Then things started getting back to normal in that regard. After a while, the shelves were well stocked with any needed items available for purchase. Grocery stores stayed open throughout the pandemic, and finding food to buy was not a problem.

Schools and churches were closed. Many businesses closed as well. Many people were able to work from home if their offices closed, and all people were advised to avoid crowds. They were encouraged to social distance and stay home as much as possible.

Most restaurants closed for a time or had only to take out options. Most fast-food restaurants stayed open, although some of them just allowed drive-through. The restaurants which were open were mostly empty. Then they started to reopen with sanitary precautions in place and social distancing the norm.
