On my birthday today, I wanted to share something that is close to my heart and keeps me going through tough times. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

You are a vibrant and energetic person radiating charisma and positivity. Everything you touch seems to turn into gold, and each day is filled with achievements and recognition.

You are well-known and respected by important people. Everyone admires you and dreams to be like you.

At work, you are the star performer, respected and admired by one and all. You feel like you are on top of the world and nothing can stop you.

However one day, your dream comes crashing down. You stumble and fall down the hill at an alarming speed, finding yourself at the bottom of the pit.

Suddenly, no one cares about you anymore, and you are just another face in the crowd.

Due to some unfortunate events, you lose your position and with it, your confidence, charm, and sense of self-worth.

This is not a fictional story, this can happen to anyone, this has happened to me more than once!

I refuse to give up and always bounce back. Here’s how.

  1. Have constant support: Your family, friends, anyone with unwavering faith in you, who will care for you selflessly and remind you how special you are.

2. Find a coach: If you are unable to confide in family or friends, consider seeking the help of a coach. Sometimes it’s easier to speak with someone who won’t judge you and can offer a fresh perspective on life.

3. Stay Healthy: It’s important to stay physically fit, especially during difficult times. Exercise and sweating can boost your adrenaline and help you recover faster.

4. Try to separate yourself from your job role: We work to earn a salary that is essential for fulfilling several life needs. However, our job roles do not define us completely. Each of us is a complex individual with many layers to our personality. It is important to focus on these layers, rediscover our hidden selves, and not let the 8–9 hour workday define us. We are so much more than just our jobs.

5. Look for inspiration: There is inspiration all around us. Seek it out, read about it, and reflect on how people in far worse situations have achieved success with fewer resources. You can do it too.

6. Be grateful: It’s important to remind yourself of the blessings you have. Many people are less fortunate than you and can only dream of the basics in life. Be grateful for what you have.

7. Work on your strengths: Identify your strengths and use them to add value. Playing to your strengths can help you succeed.

8. Have Faith: It’s important to maintain faith as everything will fall into place in the end. The universe has a way of providing us with what we need and hence this too shall pass and better days will be back soon.

9. Hold your head high: Never let tough times make you weak. People will only respect you when you present yourself as strong, even when you feel vulnerable. If you believe everything is fine, others will believe it too. Keep smiling and keep pushing through until you succeed.

10. Stay humble and egoless: Don’t be afraid to showcase your work or ask for more. Being in a position of power and influence shouldn’t make you complacent. If you are unaware of how to ask for work or seek out opportunities, someone else will take them. Remember that no one in the workspace is concerned about your interests, so it is essential to be the champion of your cause and actively seek out opportunities.

Change is the only constant in life. Neither good nor bad times last forever. What endures is one’s character, skills, and attitude. Tough times don’t last but tough people do!
