Let’s start simple. What exactly is the NoFap?

NoFap is a lifestyle choice centred around abstaining from pornography and masturbation. Advocates of NoFap believe that excessive porn consumption and frequent masturbation can lead to negative consequences such as decreased motivation, social anxiety, and even erectile dysfunction. This philosophy encourages individuals to reclaim control over their sexual impulses and channel their energy into more productive pursuits.

So, now that we’ve covered that, let me give you a short brief about my experience…

As a man in my middle twenties, living in a fast-paced world, where focus is split into so many different areas of life, trying to balance college, career, family, social life, hobbies, etc, many times (read every day), after a long day, I would come home, lay in bed, scroll a little bit on my social account, and endorse into consumption of 18+ videos, as I saw that as a way of stress relief and the only way I could fall asleep. And while there is a truth in that, the cons of those habits are much bigger than the pros.

First, it became something that would only help me fall asleep, then something to relax and relieve some stress, and after that… It became something I thought about a lot and spent a lot of my free time doing — watching porn and masturbating, as it gave me a false feeling of fulfillment.

When I recognized that, the damage was already done. I realized I was addicted.

Here are some of the signs along the road that you might be addicted to:

  • You spend a lot of time on PH, just choosing the video you would like to watch.
  • A lot of the time, you have no energy, you are sleepy and sloppy.
  • You have no need or urge to talk to girls.
  • You lost the confidence to talk with girls.
  • You feel unmotivated and unhappy with yourself.
  • Masturbation is the only way you relax, etc…

If you got it here, I believe you find yourself in some if not all of those cases, and you would like to stop doing it. Here is my journey, although it is not a long one, the start of a long journey, always starts with one, small step. I have been on this path for the last couple of months, and here is how you can do it too!

But before I tell you how to stop fapping, I would like to point out some of the benefits of NoFap I have noticed during the last couple of months:

It is important to mention that I have failed a couple of times, and it really is normal, so don’t stress yourself over it. Just forget about it and move on. Eventually, you will stop thinking about it and it will become your new reality.

  • You will not get the ability to fly or to run at super-sonic speed, but the first thing you will notice energy an increase.
  • Boost confidence in everything you do (This gradually becomes higher and higher).
  • Willingness to do the hard things.
  • Not sexualizing everything.
  • Clearer skin (I have noticed improvements after about 2 weeks or so).
  • Improved focus and concentration.
  • More free time.

Start with motivation and turn it into the discipline!

Motivation will get you through the first two, three or four days. This is where the urge to do it comes back because your brain wants that dopamine release fapping gives you.

This is how we are programmed. Our bodies want the habits we built on for so long to stay the same, and this is what stops most people from succeeding, becoming a better version of themselves, to becoming a masters of their destinies.

How to resist, how to say no?

Desexualizing your brain is hard, I am not going to lie to you, but in the long run, it is worth and it is essential to not become mediocre, to not become a loser.

  1. My number one tip, stay away as much as possible from the social media. Nudity on social media is ever-present. It tempts you to watch it, makes you horny and weak, and eventually, you will not resist the urge. However, if you have to use it, let’s say for work or school, stay away from the sexualized content. Unfollow and block all of the accounts related to it, and do not open/scroll past everything that reminds you of it.
  2. If you get the urge, do this instead. Do not reach out immediately to your phone, or if you are holding it, just leave it aside. Instead, go for a 5-minute walk, or do some push-ups. Meditate for 10 minutes, all those activities will occupy your thoughts, and after a couple of minutes, your urge will be gone, and you will feel more accomplished. Small victories slowly build up!
  3. Try to talk with a person you like. If you find yourself clumsy, without courage, unconfident, you will be unhappy with yourself. This thing gives you the ever-lasting will to change and become a better version.

I hope this article helped you, and motivated you to start your journey because it is worth it.

I am looking forward to hearing about your experiences, motivation, ups, and downs you had along the way. Feel free to leave a comment, I will try to give my best advice and help as much as I can. For now, let’s finish it here, and in the future, I will keep you updated on this topic.

Thanks for reading!
