The worst advice we can receive is to start small. Not because it’s 100% incorrect, but because we usually misunderstand it.

When we dream of something big, building an exceptional reputation in our work, maximizing our online presence, or building a company, it’s not enough to just do one task and call it a day.

There are too many tasks we need to tackle. And tackle it with exceptional performance, not just to get it done.

And so when we follow this advice, we do nothing but grow the entitlement feeling. You can see it in local businesses that close. They’ll tell you they opened the business and funded it well, but the market condition or just people don’t want to buy.

Those behaviors are the results of starting too small, doing too small, and thinking that you’ve done the best of your work.

People who are serious about their work, don’t start small. Ever.
They start with a big vision, a big dream. Clear or not, it doesn’t matter as they’ll figure it out.

They’re eager and curious about everything they do.

The point of starting small is to be crystal clear on the tasks you’re going to do. Your efforts must be proportional to your vision, at least in the beginning. Otherwise, you’re daydreaming thinking that you’ve done all things you can do.
