One Assassination Under God (Ch. 1) Review
Marilyn Manson’s triumphant return to form
I was raised on eyeliner and Marilyn Manson.
What always made the music and style of Marilyn Manson special to me was the deep introspective lyrics and the experimentation with different styles of music, his impressive vocal range and of course his controversial personas over the years. Manson grew as an artist, hit highs and lows and everything in between, it was a wild ride.
For this review I took a few days to consume all the songs many many times in different situations. Lying in bed at night, driving through the night with my car, at the gym, … many Marilyn Manson songs are like a fine wine, they need air to breathe, time to fully develop their “aroma”.
So here’s my impressions in detail.
Back with a bang
Recently we saw his transformation from a less-than-optimal physical appearance, clearly shaped by massive alcohol and drug abuse, back into what seems to be his early 2000’s younger self. It seems like he has been clean and sober for a while, had a facelift or two, got on Ozempic and/or some real workout routine. Long story short, he looks amazing, with his trademark long-bony-face back!
