Parallel Whispers — Poem 08/03/2024
A secret only we knew without knowing…
I was sleeping last month and all of a sudden a single word came to me almost in all caps: SECRET.
I noted that.
Sometimes feelings can come as the greatest secret.
Sometimes even as a secret to yourself, as well as others.
You may never have thought…
Or never realized…
At least fully to that extent…
Yet it was a slow seed germinating under the soil of your heart.
I wrote this poem today randomly and impromptu shortly after waking…
Parallel Whispers
Sometimes love is quiet
It does not shout
It simmers under the surface
A slow-cooked dish that takes its time
Subtle flavors that intersect to inform the senses
From a look, a glance
A moment in time that spoke of a time past
And a time to be
A small fire stoked beneath the layers
The years that piled one upon the other
