Picking Your Nose

Substitute a better way to clean your nose. You probably already know about this, but don’t do it as a habit. What is it?

It’s a nasal flush. Give yourself a nasal flush each day. Your nasal membranes will feel so clean you won’t like picking them.

Also, this keeps you from getting infections or viruses from scratching open the skin. Those germs lurk there, waiting for an opening. (When you get a cold, do the nasal flush 2 or 3 times a day to get over the cold faster). Nasal flushes are the best way to heal a sinus infection, too.

Instructions: Use a cup of warm water with one-quarter teaspoon of good salt, mix well, and “drink” a noseful with one nostril by sucking in the tilted glass of water while partially closing the other nostril with your finger; hold the water for a couple of seconds, then blow it out into the sink, then repeat with the other nostril.

With one cup of salted water, you should be able to do this about twice per nostril. I like to use a small, narrow glass that I refill from the cup of warm salt water.

Some people fill a rubber syringe with the salt water. Finish the job by blowing out the water and debris from the inside of your nose, wiping with tissue, and, of course, cleaning the sink too.

To feel like Mr. Clean, chew a mint leaf occasionally, especially after your nasal flush. What a rush!
