Redesigning The Education System (The Right Way)
The Education System Is Outdated, and there is nothing We can do About it. But What if there was? In this article, I’m going to express my opinion on the matter and provide a framework as to what I imagine A new And improved Education system would look like.
For me, the ideal education system should follow these criteria
· Develop The Student Physically And Mentally
· Teach Values such as discipline, sharing, and helping one another
In A day where AI and machines are taking over ordinary jobs where there is a lack of creativity and they can thrive, It’s about time the education system focused more on the creative side of individuals and how
The Lessons
The lessons will be customizable and tailored to each student’s interests and can be changed every year except for students over the age of 16 with exceptional talent at something specific
The Default lessons for every student will be the following:
- English
- PE
- Any Form Of Creative Expression
- Applied Mathematics
- Physics
The students will also have to choose from 2 subjects that interest them the most, the one that feels most important to them and the second most important to them
Those can be literally any subject that is productive. For example, You can’t choose scrolling on TikTok as your subject of Interest.
Now, although it may seem that I have chosen the most random subjects ever, these are actually really important subjects that I think all individuals should engage in, especially in today’s fast-paced world.
For instance, Team sports teach the importance of teamwork and discipline, while working out in general massively increases mood, and life expectancy and can actually lead to lower depression rates and having a more social life.
What I also found interesting is that everyone who engages in some kind of creative activity not only has better critical thinking skills, but also better social skills, is less likely to fall into depression, and is more likely to engage in actually useful activities instead of mindlessly scrolling through TikTok.
Choosing the subjects that you want to pursue from a young age, can not only help develop individuals who are really great at something, which is crucial to the fast development of a society, but also encourages students to do what they want to do in a productive way and find creative solutions to problems, which paves the way to revolutionary discoveries.
Learning
Learning is also going to take a vastly different form compared to the one it currently possesses.
School should be a controlled environment where children study on their own with the help of their teachers.
This way, the kids are not only taught to be more autonomous, but also allows them to learn the subjects in their own unique ways.
The Time Tables
The time table is going to look something like this:
This is my interpretation of the timetable that would be ideal, not only for optimal learning, but also to ensure the happiness of the students.
This may seem a bit repetitive, but although the subjects are in the same order, every day is going to be different from another.
Grades
Students will be graded according to their performance in each subject, much like how it is currently done in school, but as opposed to the current education system , the students are encouraged to look at those grades in a different way.
Instead of seeing a bad grade and thinking to yoursel:
“oh I’m bad at x subject, I need to work more on it to get a better grade next time”
it should instead be a performance metric, to see at which subject you are actually good at and should pursue later in life.
Because 10 people being great at 10 different things go much further than 10 well-rounded individuals.
Conclusion
I don’t think this is going to happen anytime soon, as the education system is going to stay as-is for many decades to come, but i just wanted to get the idea out in hopes of someone actually doing it in the future
