Hi people, I hope you are doing well physically and mentally.

Today’s post is about a very easy and do at home routine for beautiful, healthy lips.

It is for both men and women so do not assume it will make your lips pink or red (guys lol).

First of all, “You can not change your lip color by applying anything topical.”

The color of the lips is based on how much blood circulates in your lips and how consistently you remove the dead skin off them & your diet.

So, coming to the topic, here is the easy 2 step lip care routine you need with some bonus tips!

1. LIP SCRUB

I don’t know how many times I’ve highlighted the importance of scrubbing your lips. The reason is because like our body, our lips also collect dead skin cells due to the pollution in the environment, dust & dirt. So it is important to scrub your lips properly. There are some fantastic ways by which you can scrub your lips:

  1. Take a wet towel and scrub your lips gently for 2 minutes after taking a shower. It will easily remove the dead skin without much hassle.
  2. Grounded sugar can be used on wet lips to do the same scrubbing for 2 minutes. Note that you should not be harsh or should not use course sugar.
  3. Market lip scrubs can be used to scrub. But remember to only use non- toxic, chemical free natural scrubs. Otherwise, it can do you more harm than good.

Scrub should be done every 4–5 days. It also depends on factors like whether you smoke or drink alcohol, etc.

I scrub my lips every 4 days.

2. LIP MOISTURIZER

The next step after scrubbing is to use a lip moisturizer. It may come in many forms like lip balms, lip butters, lip masks, etc. The primary job is to moisturize the lips properly.

Go for lip butters which contain shea butter, mango butter, cocoa butter, etc. Some Asians also prefer to use GHEE, i.e., clarified butter on their lips.

Use lip moisturizers every 3–4 hours. The frequency also depends on the weather, your job, how much sunlight you’re getting, etc.

So, these were the basic two steps which will help you to keep your lips moisturized, healthy and also maintain care of your lips as they are a significant part of your face.

Now some bonus tips which can make a huge impact on the appearance of your lips:

  1. Smoking or drinking- If you smoke or drink regularly, then it might be a good idea to cut that down or cut down your expectations of having beautiful lips. It is the bitter truth, but smoking or drinking can make your lips darker eventually.
  2. Use of chemicals- If you regularly use lip products which contain mica or other parabenes, then they eventually lead to darkening and cracking of your lips.
  3. Your diet- Your diet plays a significant role in the appearance of your lips. A person who eats clean and healthy foods is much likely to have more blood circulated into his lips which leads to healthy, plumped lips.
  4. Water- Do you realize whenever your body is hydrated you feel the softness of your lips as compared to when you are intoxicated?

So, keep yourself hydrated by drinking more water and adding more fruits and vegetables in your diet. Remember,

“Balance is the key.”

5. Do not lick your lips with your own tongue- Your saliva helps to break down the food and turn it into smaller particles. That saliva contain all enzymes which can cause darkening of the lips. So, be sure to avoid it.

So, these steps were some simple and realistic steps which anyone can follow without much work.

Sometimes others can remind you what you already know but tend to forget.

Have you ever tried any of these?
