Isn’t it the worst feeling in the world?

Every time you go on Instagram, all you see are muscular and fit influencers.

Their perfect body makes you want to throw up because you’re so jealous of them.

Every time they appear on your feed, you realize you aren’t as fit as they are. That alone is enough to make you feel depressed.

You always say to yourself:

I’ll never be as fit as they are.

This was me a few years ago. I didn’t have the perfect body as those influencers I saw on my Instagram feed.

Every time I saw them, I became depressed because I remembered my imperfect body.

I’m sure this is the same way you feel.

But I found three ways to get rid of this negative mentality.

I’ll share these secrets with you.

So, let’s dive in.

1. Improve and be proud

Be proud of your body.

Why don’t you do this instead:

Focus on improving your body so that you can be proud of it instead of comparing yourself with those people on Instagram.

For a long time, I always compared my body to those fitness influencers on the internet.

It became so unhealthy that I started to make myself look fit by sucking in my gut.

Even Professor Julie Wiebe says that sucking in can alter your posture, urination and movement of bowels.

This might also be you. You have such a negative mentality that you change your body’s normal state without knowing it’s harmful to you.

But I overcame this mentality by:

  • Working out through lifting weights and doing cardio.
  • It has taken me nearly two years to achieve a body I am proud of.

By working out, I have stopped comparing myself to the fitness influencers because I am proud of my body.

2. Don’t promote it

If you don’t like what you’re doing, then don’t do it. — Ray Bradbury

If seeing images/videos of a fitness influencer’s body makes you negatively compare yourself to them, stop looking at it.

This was what I did.

I always compared my body to that of The Rock.

Whenever I saw his body, I would negatively compare mine to his.

I felt like I could never attain his body, which made me jealous.

I’m sure this is the same for you.

You have someone you compare your body to, wishing you would be as fit as they are.

It’s harmful, but I will show how I stopped it:

  • I cleared my search history on Instagram and Google of pictures of The Rock.
  • And I stopped Instagram from sending me recommendations from The Rock.

3. Do you ever appreciate your body?

You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens. — Louise Hay.

Before I stopped comparing myself to others, I never appreciated my body.

I wasn’t happy with the way it was.

It was a constant cycle of negatively comparing myself to others, not liking my body, and again comparing myself to those with the perfect body.

This is the same for you. Am I right?

You have this constant negative cycle of comparison and disliking your body.

But this was how I broke out from that negative cycle:

  • Every morning before I shower, I look at my body and be grateful for how it is.
  • It could be as simple as thanking your shoulder for holding up your arm or thanking your skin for protecting the more delicate parts of you inside.

Living a life of comparison is not healthy.

Fortunately, you don’t have to continue living a life like that if you do these:

  • Improve your body and be proud of it
  • Don’t watch videos/pictures that will make you compare to other fit people
  • Appreciate your body because it is unique

I, too, have gone through that state of negatively comparing myself to others.

But I have overcome it, and I’m sharing my tips with you so you don’t have to go through the same experience as me.

So, I encourage you to always come back to this for inspiration.
