Happy 2024 guys! I welcome you all to my blog. Since it is a new year I know most of you are thinking about self-improvement and New Year resolutions. So here are a few of my thoughts that I think might help you set your goals.

The fact that you clicked on this story indicates one of 3 things:

· You know the man who made that statement.

· You claim to be a winner.

· You want to be a winner.

If you belong to the first or third category, I welcome you with open arms to continue reading the rest of the blog. But if you belong to the second category, give this a read maybe your perception of the word winner might change. Before we get into the core subject, I would like to give a small disclaimer that I belong to the third group of people, I am still in the grind. So what I will be discussing today is more of an observation-based blog rather than an experience-based one.

Now getting started…

“Winners Don’t Make Excuses” is a quote that got its fame from a famous TV series called “The Suits”. One of the main characters says this, and his name is “Harvey Specter”. Most of the qualities that are going to be discussed below are inspired by “Harvey Specter”. You will notice that I have drawn a lot of parallels between “Winner” and “Harvey Specter”. Generally, when we hear the word “Winner” there are few qualities that are like the bare necessities that a person must possess to be called so. Rich, Chivalrous, and Humble to name a few are the most associated qualities. That’s not what I am here for, I am here to describe certain qualities that are not discussed in the mainstream, but I am one hundred percent sure that it will change how people perceive you and how you perceive yourself.

1. Get those muscles growing.

First and foremost, HIT THE GYM! Nothing, no man, possession, or motivation will give you the confidence you get from knowing that if things get out of hand you can neutralize the situation single-handedly. Physical strength should never be overlooked.

Become strong, become powerful, and make yourself capable enough to end a fight with a single blow. You may hear a lot of people advising you to stay calm and not expose yourself to violence, but I say expose yourself to violence! Become a monster! And then learn to control yourself. You have to pick up the sword first, learn to fight, and then keep it sheathed. A warrior in a garden is much better than a gardener at war. Improving your physique also gets you looking good in any attire. Most of the insecurities a person develops can be made non-existent in the gym.

2. Be well-read.

Gain a lot of knowledge, read a lot, and get your facts right. This is very important because when you know that the statements you made or are going to make are undoubtedly accurate then you can dominate any argument or discussion.

But at the same time always be open-minded and listen to what your peers have got to say as well. Don’t claim yourself to be all-knowing, only a fool does that. When you feel that they are making just arguments be a gentleman and accept it. After all, it’s a discussion, not an argument. If you are not willing to listen and only want to preach then one day someone might just end up schooling you and it will not be a pleasant memory.

3. Be a man of your word.

Never go back on your word whatever the consequences. In the world of backstabbing and cheating, we are in short of people who value their word above everything. It is important to take responsibility for your mistakes and stand by your promises, this defines your character and credibility.

Trust me, character and credibility are something you would want to hold on to till your last breath. Nowadays, the value of words has decreased significantly, and everything needs to be written and documented. This needs to change at least to a certain extent, when you don’t go back on your word people trust you more and people’s trust is something that can take you miles.

4. Arrogance backed by success.

Arrogance when backed by success is not as bad as you think it is. It is more or less like self-confidence but in a more assertive way. The fact that you are proud of your accomplishments should be clearly visible in your demeanour.

Take examples of any characters or real people that you look up to, everyone carries themselves with the attitude that they are unbeatable in their domain. Usain Bolt, Muhammad Ali, Christiano Ronaldo, Lebron James, Virat Kohli or fictitious characters like Harvey Specter, Tommy Shelby, Yuri Boyka, you name them. All the above-mentioned carry a slight arrogance that is strongly backed by their success records. This one detail adds a lot of depth to your character and makes you more intimidating.

5. Make healthy relationships.

No matter how successful you get you always need people to fall back on, look up to, and keep you grounded. Relationships do not necessarily mean romantic ones, it does count though. In general, relationships can be good friends, family, a mentor, basically any person who won’t leave you hanging dry and has your back.

Many people feel this isn’t necessary but hear me out, Harvey had Mike, Donna, and Jessica Pearson. Consider any successful personality and they have an unwavering support system, they boost your morale in ways that you cannot even imagine. There are many cases where the person makes a dying effort not for himself/herself but for the people they care about, and these efforts differentiate you from the herd.

So yeah, these are five points that I have for all the people in the grind. I myself am in the grind and this is a blog that I am starting as a part of my development arc. If you have read this far, thanks a lot for your time it means a lot.
