In today’s world, one out of every four Indian children is growing up in a nuclear family. Though the situation may vary, the truth is that parenting is hectic, stressful and demanding. If you are a parent, here are 5 tips you can consider following to reduce the pressure of parenting and bring the joy back in your life.

Follow the same routine daily — Try to plan meals, bedtimes, chores and other functions at regular hours. It will help you and your child fall into a routine. Maintaining a regular schedule will help you feel more organized and your small kid to feel more secure.

Give proper time to your children — Even though the dirty dishes and piles of laundry may take your whole day, spare some time for your children to have some fun with them. (After all, it’s all about your kid’s future and you.) Spend quality time together by reading, playing, listening to music, or going for a walk. And the most important thing, spread the love between your relationship as a happy family.

Eliminate the word“guilt” from your vocabulary — Most young women always feel guilty about the things they can’t buy or the time they don’t have to give their kids. But, for your well-being, it’s better to pay attention to all those things you can do for your children on a daily basis and on those little things you can buy for them — and yes, don’t forget about the love, comfort and attention. You are the only one who is responsible for all of that! However, if you are feeling guilty about a recent divorce that happened in your life or home environment, think about connecting with other single parents. Just concentrate on helping your child as well as yourself.

Treat kids like kids — Sometimes, as a single parent, we become too dependent on our children for sympathy, comfort and companionship. But it’s important to understand that children have neither the life experience nor the emotional capacity to behave like an adult partner. If you find yourself relying on your kids in excess, or expressing your single parent feelings to them too often, look for family members or millennial friends to talk to. You can also seek the advice of a counselor if necessary.

Be positive — It’s easy to feel disheartened by all the major demands and responsibilities of a single parent. On top of everything, you may be experiencing the worst phase of your life because of a divorce or death of your better half. Despite all your feelings, it’s important to stay positive in every way in your life, since your kids mood is completely dependent on your mood, and it gets affected if you are not okay. The best way to deal with it is to do regular exercise, take enough of rest, eat properly and look for balance in your life. If you are feeling bad, it’s okay to share some feeling with your kids, but make them aware of the fact that they are not responsible for these problems — and a beautiful life is waiting ahead!
