You don’t have to admit it, but, you are.

In today’s age, where everything is “lean-n-mean” and “do more with less”, each of us has to find any means necessary to meet our goals (not to mention those that our manager and company set for us).

And if that means that we have to become those dreaded “marketers”, than we’re going to have to become a marketer.

We’ve all been marketers in the past — so don’t think I’m insulting you (or there’s that intent).

Here’s what Google came up with for a definition: Marketing is a form of communication between you and your customers with the goal of selling your product or service to them. Communicating the value of your product or service is a key aspect of marketing.

To me, it’s convincing someone (your prospect), that you can be trusted — either with a great product or service. Of course, similar to the definition above, where I say convincing, they say it’s communication. We can all communicate, but, communicating effectively is the key.

You’ve read numerous times throughout this blog that engagement is the key to success. From when you first meet with them (cold-call, phone, email, in person, etc.), or after you make the sale (nurturing).

It continues to be, and will always be, how you market yourself. From being irritating by sending an email every day to calling them on their cell phone at 10pm at night — that’s the negative. But, what about the positive — from providing answers to their questions (the first time), or following-up after the sale to make sure that everything is working perfectly.

All of this requires you to always be “on” with how you market yourself.

I’m not here to teach you how to market yourself — except (LOL) in this regard. Illumineto’s app, Spark, let’s you market your company, your product, and yourself, simply and easily — but as a sales professional!

Remember, we all have to be mini-marketers, and why not use the best tools available?

Good luck selling!!!
