I’m Stumped

My Wife (2013)

Thing №10,456,372 I love about my wife: My youngest turns 9 tomorrow. I’ve said before I think we do birthdays backwards and that we should celebrate the Mom on the kids’ birthdays since, after all, she is the one that made that day happen. But I was thinking about how excited my wife gets about the boys’ birthdays even though, just like on their first birthday, she does all the work and they get all the attention. The thing is, that is just how she likes it. Now she may not always like doing the work, but she loves celebrating our boys. Because she doesn’t just love them, she delights in them. She bubbles over with excitement about every little thing they do. So when a special opportunity comes for her to express her delight she is like a kid waiting on Christmas (I practically have to forcibly restrain her from giving the gifts once purchased or made, until the actual day). She makes every birthday for each boy a special, memorable occasion because she leaves not even a whisper of doubt that they were brought into this world in love and will spend every minute she is alive being loved, treasured and delighted in. If you can think of a better birthday gift, I would like to see it. Though a new iPod is pretty cool too. My wife is the best thing that has ever or will ever happen to our boys this side of God’s grace. Someday, they might even understand it a little. Until then, I will enjoy it on their behalf.
