We got accepted to a program, where they provide one-month accommodation, sponsored by Jeju Center for Creative and Innovative Economy. We, all members of Nomad c, were in Jeju now. The one month program is coming to end, we’d like to stay in Jeju island more. But, our money is gone…unfortunately, July is high demand season…So, we were looking for a way of staying Jeju.

We’ve found a way of staying a city without money

When we stayed here, we met Nopy who is living in Jeju island ! Nopy gave us some inspiration. He suggested us to share our experience, especially programming experience. We thought “That’s it! How about exchanging skill! It was Nopy who gave this idea, so we named this project as “Nopy project”.

We just did it!

We went into action the next day right away, making video, form and website page…We made quickly application form used google form. Also, we sticked up a poster about Nopy project at J-space!

This poster concept is like primitive man

We just took a video with our camera we have for promotion it. Actually, we took a video outside, but it was very noisy !! so we had to try again..:( the video is below ! I edited this video for 3 hours.

Our team members are in charge of, respectively, planning, designing, and programming. And what we do best is to make an online service, And we were thinking of sharing our skills of making a mobile service, using the skill of each one of us.

These are our exchange list

  • Product manager Jessi :

How to develop an idea ( 1 hours)

Making Information Architecture and Software Requirements ( 1 hours )

Doing a planning part in building a simple application ( 2 hours )

  • Designer Anna:

Drawing his/her own character ( 1 hours )

Building simple application part of designer ( 2 hours )

Making website using Wordpress ( 3 hours )

  • Developer Lucy:

Sharing my programming story as a non-major and starting the first step ( 30 minutes )

Philosophy : help with reading a difficult book ( 1 hours )

Programming part in building a simpe application ( 2 hours )

Our main necessity : accommodation

Actually, main problem is accommodation that is very expensive during a high-demand season. So, what we wish to get first is accommodation! Fortunately, Yezi Co-founder of Zentrepreneurs and CEO Yeong offered it to us.

First accommodation was Yezi’s house from July 8th to 14th.

Beautiful Yezi house

We lived together with Yezi! We could feel real jeju life with Yezi. I think she is a cool woman! She has a lot of experience as digitalnomad. What she told us was interesting and amazing! It is really helpful for us. Also we worked together. It was very short time but we already became like sisters..!

#Now, she is looking for new room mate! (more info)

Last day, we were doing meditation in front of house

Second accommodation was from July 14th to 20th

blue one was our accommodation!

CEO Yeong offered us this cool accommodation! It was nearby his office and house. If we need some food, we harvested vegetable from his vegetable garden. This is real jeju life! Where else can I do this!

What we have received

  • learning a language “Esperanto”
  • Delicious food
  • Museum tikets
Arario museum tikets
  • I published E-book with the help of Sansol!
my first e-book in Ridibooks

Amazing moments

When we worked at Starbucks and discussed about Nopy project, someone approached and talked to us. “Are you NomadC members?”. As she said, “I saw post about Nopy project in facebook group in this morning. I hope so NomadC go well so I draw calligraph whatever I can give them.” She gave us amazing calligraphy! I can never forget it!

“Cheer up Nopy project”

We proved this project is possible!

Actually, we didn’t believe this project “Trading skills not bills”would work. This had seemed to unrealistic. But we made it! The good thing of this project is meeting various people. Also the people we met gave us valuable things such as energy, sharing experience and inspiration.

Our Next challenge

We will try out Nopy project in another country. I am worried about language barrier and coping with cultural differences. But I’m looking forward to it because it will help our team get more mature!

more detailed info is here. (but, in Korean)
