Randomly seeking for more social capital doesn’t become beneficial, rather creating social capital that is truly meaningful to the users become beneficial.

While Shirky was explaining the factors for successful harnessing of cognitive surplus in his book; he stated, “Users will only take advantage of opportunities they understand and that seem interesting or valuable.” (Chapter 7 Cognitive Surplus) That being said, users are only interested in opportunities related to their familiar topics. Getting many followers on Youtube, Facebook, or Instagram require creators to come up with the contents that are familiar to the users. One of the examples is the tastemade account on social media where they share the videos of cooking many kinds of dish. Currently, tastemade account on Instagram holds 3.8 millions followers and still is growing. By sharing the food content that is familiar to the all human users, they accomplised getting audiences and creating social capitals.
