At Imagr we’re rethinking the way the world shops.
Our Field Applications Engineers serve a vital role here, they are our on-the-ground technical experts, working hands on with our customers.

We asked our team of Field Applications Engineers (FAE) based across our offices in Amsterdam 🇳🇱 and Japan 🇯🇵, what it’s like working at Imagr.

Tobias, an FAE in Osaka 🇯🇵

What does a standard day look like at Imagr?

Tobias 🇯🇵: My days vary quite a lot. My role includes tech support, technical communication with our stakeholders, supporting development teams with information from the field, working on development projects, working with operations staff to improve the store experience.
On most days I’ll have a daily standup meeting in the morning. After that I’ll usually be in communication with New Zealand and across some meetings. On some days I actively support and monitor our live operations and in open time slots I work on external communications and FAE development projects.

Floris 🇳🇱: “A standard day at Imagr”, is a sentence you would not hear me say often. Since joining Imagr we have been doing a lot of different things. My core responsibility day to day is to make sure to fix problems in the field as soon as possible. Imagr has given me a lot of freedom to choose my own side projects with which I can make an impact on the company and our product. I can say there has not been a boring day at Imagr, there is always something new and exciting to do!

Our FAE’s come from various different backgrounds that enable them to call on each other for support across multiple different challenges and projects at Imagr. The team includes experience in Software Engineering, Software Development, AI, Electrical Engineering, QA and Machine Learning.

Keigo (L) and Tobias (R), FAE’s in Osaka 🇯🇵

What’s your highlight of working at Imagr so far?

Tobias 🇯🇵: Working with talented and open-minded colleagues. People are very nice and supportive.

Heewoon 🇳🇱: Working on new technology that is always interesting and exploring new ideas to help build our solution.

Keigo 🇯🇵: Exciting, interesting, and fun. I’m contributing to the project by combining my original knowledge and experience with what I have newly learned at Imagr. I am also working with overseas team members, which is really exciting for me.

Floris 🇳🇱: On top of everything here, I might enjoy the team lunch the most on Friday. Taking a step back from work and eating something tasty with the team. Also, it has been really nice to be able to travel almost right away after joining Imagr a few months ago.

What’s your favourite part about the FAE team at Imagr?

Heewoon, an FAE in Amsterdam 🇳🇱

Tobias 🇯🇵: Everyone’s background is quite different, we bring a lot of different ideas to how to tackle our engineering challenges, which we share across continents.

Heewoon 🇳🇱: The teams in their different regions have different tasks but we all have the same mindset. It is great to talk and put our heads together for the problems that we face even if I personally have not experienced the issue before.

Floris 🇳🇱: I’m quite new to the company. The other FAEs have helped me a lot to get up to speed with the way we work and to get to know our technology. They have all been extremely friendly and helpful to make my onboarding into this function smooth and pleasant.

“Imagr as a whole is adapting and learning how to best work over multiple time zones, but everyone goes above and beyond to support each other!” — Floris 🇳🇱

What would you say to someone who was thinking about applying to work as an FAE at Imagr?

Tobias 🇯🇵: You get to work on an impressive and advanced system that spans an unusually wide range of technologies (cart hardware, embedded software, cloud services, mobile apps etc.). You have the chance to closely work with very talented dev teams and make a great impact on Imagr’s operations by supporting the system in the field.

Floris, an FAE in Amsterdam 🇳🇱

Floris 🇳🇱: We are still in the process of shaping our duties and way of work. And if you are looking to join a small team that is getting bigger and help define that process I would suggest you apply. We have a lot of exciting things on the calendar!

“At Imagr you don’t only gain technical knowledge and experience, but you’re also encouraged to have a proactive attitude, learn new things and take action to overcome our challenges, even if those actions are out of the initial scope.” — Keigo 🇯🇵

Imagr is currently looking for new Field Application Engineers to join the team. You’ll be ready to take on the role of a technical expert for Imagr’s technologies in the region, supporting the implementation and ongoing success of Imagr’s technology — from pre-pilots, pilots to launch! We have available positions in our office in Amsterdam, Netherlands 🇳🇱 supporting our growth throughout Europe and the UK and we’re always looking for great people in Japan 🇯🇵 to join our Osaka based team and in New Zealand 🇳🇿 to join our Auckland based team.
