Human waste. Sewage. Untreated wastewater. The ocean-sized problem that nobody is talking about. But it’s making for some really cr@ppy situations for people and nature. In this session, we make bathroom talk more acceptable as we explore how to re-potty train our sanitation systems and protect our surrounding bodies of water.

The previous sanitation sessions featured how cr@ppy the current sludge pollution situation is. During this session, we’ll roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty. How can often- siloed sectors reconnect their work flows of work and wipe away this global challenge? Through an interactive, case-based workshop, attendees will build a detailed systems map and break down barriers to create new opportunities to tackle this ocean-sized challenge.
SMARTTERRA: FROM APPLE ENGINEER TO DIGITAL WATER ENTREPRENEUR

Gokul Krishna Govindu, Founder of SmartTerra, is on a quest to digitize South & Southeast Asia’s water infrastructure. This TED-style presentation will showcase Gokul’s entrepreneurial journey & highlight his successes & challenges in building a water startup to reduce losses & recover revenue for utilities. With support from IH2O & partners, he will draw insights from ongoing projects with rural & urban utilities in India, Cambodia & the Philippines.
