If you’re a guest in IMI Residence in Dundrum, we hope you have taken advantage of the ample free parking we offer to all our guests. Whether you’ve travelled here for business or leisure, you may want to take advantage of our great location in South Dublin to see a little more of what Dublin has to offer. Here are some of the best places to drive to for a change of scenery.

Dundrum Town Centre

You won’t have to drive far to one of the towns biggest and best attractions, Dundrum Town Centre — one of Ireland’s largest shopping centres. The modern shopping centre has over 160 shops and outlets, so you’ll find what you’re looking for and some bargains along the way. There is a good mixture of high-end stores like BT2 & Hugo Boss and high street favourites like Zara & River Island, not forgetting everyone’s favourite, Penneys (Primark)! If you fancy a bite to eat, they also have an impressive selection of cafes, restaurant and fast food outlets, with something to please everyone. Their in-house cinema is a great way to pass an afternoon or evening, showing the most up to date blockbusters in the 12-screen, HD cinema.

Leopardstown Racecourse

Leopardstown Racecourse is a horse-racing stadium, a short 10-minute drive from IMI Residence. Unofficially known as ‘The home of Irish Racing in Dublin’ the course has a packed events schedule with racing almost every weekend and special festivals & events on throughout the year. Here you can spend an evening enjoying some light-hearted betting, enjoying the delicious catering they offer and taking advantage of the numerous bars — but not if you’re driving! It’s an ideal day out for friends, colleagues and families.

Powerscourt Estate, House and Gardens

One of the most beautiful parts of Dublin is just a 20-minute drive from IMI Residence Dundrum. Powerscourt is a large country estate with a beautiful house and an impressive landscaped garden spanning an impressive 19 hectares. The gardens are most impressive in springtime with a colourful and vibrant variety of flora and other plant life. While there, you can also visit the highest waterfall in Ireland. At 121-metres, the waterfall is most impressive after a rainfall (for obvious reasons!) and the walk to get there is scenic and enjoyable without being a full-blown hike.

Glendalough

For a bit of a longer road trip, map your way to the Wicklow National Park, through the gorgeous Sally Gap and on to Glendalough. The ‘valley of the two lakes‘ is one of Irelands wonders and offers visitors a sense of peace and tranquillity. Here you’ll also find a monastic site and round tower, founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century which is a huge asset to the culture and heritage of the area. There is a picnic area, a café, a small gift shop and acres of wonderful wild landscape to explore at your leisure.

Cliff Walk

If hiking is a top priority for you on your trip to Dublin, you’ll enjoy the scenic cliff walk beginning in Bray and leading you to Greystones. Park your car in the Bray carpark, enjoy the leisurely 2-hour walk. The linear cliff walk is easily one of the highlights of the East Coast of Ireland and is just the right level of difficulty for beginners the walk follows the coastline and has some of the most amazing views this side of the country. When you reach Greystones, take your pick of the many pubs, cafes and restaurants for a tasty lunch. You can then turn back the way you came or ride a couple of stops on the train back to your car.
