How To Get To IMI Residence
Road:
If you’re driving to IMI, you’re in luck. Not only are we close to many main roads in and out of Dublin South, we also offer complimentary parking to all of our guests. Our handy location close to Dundrum is easily reachable from the M50, making us easy to reach from Dublin City and further afield. We are well signposted from the city; following the signs to Dundrum Town Centre and we are less than 5 minutes’ drive from there. If you’re hiring a car or arriving from Dublin Airport, take the route avoiding the city centre and you should reach us within 30-minutes.
Bus:
Buses in Dublin are fairly reliable and run quite frequently, especially when compared to our rural counterparts. It’s the most cost-effective and easiest way to navigate the city. All bus routes you will need to reach IMI Residence are operated by Dublin Bus and cost just a few Euro per person. You will need exact change to travel by bus and the driver can give you the correct fare once on board. The closest bus stop to IMI is immediately outside our gates on the Sandyford Road.

Rail:
Dublin has two main rail stations depending on where in the country you are travelling from. Unfortunately, neither of the train lines pass the IMI or Dundrum but both are in the centre of the city so you can easily transfer to a local bus or Luas. Heuston and Connolly Stations are the central train stations in Dublin City and connect you to almost all other parts of the country. Train tickets can be bought in-station but for the best value for money, purchase them online.
Luas:
The Luas is Dublin’s light rail system and is one of the most comfortable and quickest ways to get across the city easily. There are three Luas lines in Dublin, Red, Blue and the Greenline — which is the line you’ll need to take to the IMI. You will need to buy a ticket before boarding the Luas at one of the dedicated ticket machines, present at every single stop. Choose the Balally stop and embark without showing your ticket to anyone or scanning it. You’ll only need the ticket if an inspector asks for it. IMI Residence is a brisk 10-minute (1km) walk from the Luas stop. The Luas costs no more than €3.50 per person and there is plenty of room for baggage on board.
Taxi:
Taxis can be ordered from our reception or hailed from the road easily. If you are travelling from the airport there are taxis available at all times from the taxi rank just outside the arrival’s hall. Dublin taxi fares are metered, and the fare will depend on traffic. You should always get a receipt for every journey and a trip to/from the airport should cost approximately €40–50. A taxi to/from the city centre will cost roughly €25–30.
