What do you look for when you’re booking a romantic break away? Maybe you’d like to spend time walking by the sea or in a picturesque park? Or do you prefer being surrounded by beautiful architecture or dining in a stylish restaurant by candlelight? We are lucky to be surrounded by many romantic spots in Dublin, no matter what your idea of romance might be! Here are some of our favourite romantic spots close to IMI Residence:

Local Park:

If your idea of romance is a stroll in a lush green park, surrounded by well-manicured lawns and woodlands, Marlay Park is a 10-minute drive away from IMI Residence in Dundrum. It’s a lovely place to enjoy the great outdoors and there are many romantic activities to do while you’re there. Take a picnic and enjoy dining al fresco, visit the gorgeous café for a bite to eat and a warm drink or feed the ducks in the pond. There is a farmer’s market and a Model Railway line on Saturday mornings during summer and if you’d prefer an active date you can also make use of the cricket or tennis courts.

Romantic Restaurant:

There is something special spending time with someone you love while sharing some top-class food. If you’d like to try a little of everything on the menu together, dine in The Port House Ibericos in Dundrum. Their extensive menu and reasonable tapas prices mean there is something to suit every budget and taste. They have an impressive wine menu too and the staff are happy to recommend a personal favourite. The cosy cottage surrounds are perfect for a romantic dinner.

Cosy Pub:

Irish pubs have something very unique about them. They are a great place for a quiet drink after work, a good catch up with friends or a romantic evening for two. Dundrum House is a traditional bar & lounge in the heart of Dundrum Village that serves a decent pint and some really good pub grub. If you’d like a bit of a dance, you can enjoy live music in Dundrum House every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and during the colder months, you’ll often find a cosy hearth fire warming up the entire bar.

Walks / Hikes:

If you’re looking for romance in the great outdoors, why not arrange an afternoon hike to Ticknock in the Dublin Mountains. The views from the summit are absolutely stunning and give you a panoramic view across Dublin and the Irish Sea. It’s a moderately challenging terrain with a mixture of mountain and forest walks that will take you around 2 hours at a relaxed pace. If you don’t want to climb, do one of the shorter more leisurely trails like the 5km Fairy Castle Loop. It’s also a lovely place to pop the question if that’s what you have in mind!

Stroll by the Sea:

Do you like long walks on the beach? Lucky for you IMI is just 20-minutes’ drive from one of the prettiest seaside towns on the Irish coast, Bray. As well as it’s gorgeous scenery, Bray is a bustling town with a rich cultural and historical heritage. You can walk along the Blue Flag beach, take a dip in the Irish Sea or climb to Bray Head if you want a challenge. Afterwards, enjoy some freshly caught seafood in one of the gorgeous restaurants or fish and chips shops along the promenade.

If you’re looking for a peaceful hotel for business or leisure, surrounded by lots to see and do, IMI Residence is your perfect place to stay. If you would like to be guaranteed our best available rates, contact our reservations team directly or make your reservations using our official website.
