This week involved finally buying the materials we needed to start building the cabinet. Mike and I brought our previously discussed list to a home supply store and purchased roughly $100 worth of material. This included the sheets of plywood for the playfield, bottom, and sides of the cabinet, as well as two 4”x4”x8’ boards that will serve as legs once they are cut to size. We also purchased a selection of mounting brackets for the legs, and a set of cabinet shelving wheels to mount on the underside of the playfield. The purpose of these will be to allow us to slide the removable playfield in and out of the main cabinet with ease compared to strictly wood on wood. Once we had all these materials in the shop we began cutting some to the appropriate size. As of the end of this week, the only permanent fixture was mounting the wheels on the bottom of the playfield. Each of the other cuts were simply done to start fitting each piece to their respective section. None of these initial pieces will be fitted until every corresponding piece is cut and fits as intended. We also decided to invest in a number of screws and fasteners, as well as a countersink drill bit for making clean fittings. Looking forward to next week, Mike and I are looking to finish all these initial measurements and cuts, then start assembling the exterior cabinet.
