Matchmaking — otherwise known as the grouping of players according to their ability — is a crucial part of eSports.

I am designing a game that illustrates the effects of matchmaking, and how it can maintain replayability, by setting up matches where players work with others with similar abilities.

The enemy? Lopsided matches. Lopsided matches happen when one team dominates the other team. Lopsided matches can create frustration and boredom.

The solution? A matchmaking system that promotes matches with players of similar skill levels. My game will take place in an office where a programmer is creating code for a matchmaking algorithm or system. Once the programmer publishes his finished code he/she will get either positive or negative feedback based on how the code functions. If successful, players of my game will have insights into this complex topic.
