This week Mike and I finally began the assembly process! After much delay, we started with the mounting of the bottom board to the legs. The process started with taking four L brackets and screwing them into the bottom. The bottom board is only ½” thick, so to securely fasten the legs we cut part of the remaining segment of the 4” x 4” board as a support. During this process, we encountered a time consuming problem. Our screws were not the highest quality, and as a result began stripping out whenever they would get hung up when driving. We then had to spend and extended period of time removing stripped screws embedded deep into the legs. As of friday we needed to put our progress on hold, and then resume late sunday to finish the main base. We were able to successfully finish, and get a solid vision for what needs to be done moving forward to finish the construction. We hope to be done with construction in the next week, and everything apart from the projection before spring break.
