BANSHEEYUME™ / BAN-YUME™

A quick summary…

The purpose of BANSHEEYUME™ / BAN-YUME™ is to bring my passions of digital art, storytelling, character design, and fashion design together to form one coherent experience. The project will task me to produce professional-quality character design sheets, the opening chapters of a digital manga, physical streetwear merchandise inspired by the manga, and other various digital art assets needed to bring the project to fruition ex. logos, voice acting, etc. The purpose of this project is to use digital means to introduce a new form of storytelling through the implementation of fashion graphics, design, and merchandising.

The goal is to not only create a manga using digital tools and software but also to merchandise it by using streetwear as a medium to create an experience where clothing and manga have a symbiotic relationship. Character design within the manga would be designed from the lens of a fashion designer and stylist, and heavily influenced by current streetwear trends while even featuring designs to be produced as real-life counterparts. The wearable merchandise should further expound upon and represent ideas and story elements within the manga rather than just another means for extra profits. These merchandisable ideas will have the potential to be expanded into accessories and miscellaneous items such as posters, stickers, and pins.

BANSHEEYUME™ refers to the manga portion of the project while BAN-YUME™ refers specifically to the Streetwear portions of the project.

In the passing week…

I have begun the development of character sheets that will be used as guides for myself when drawing and redrawing characters from various angles. These will be used as references for any media that needs to be created which include the specific character(s), including streetwear designs. Currently, two sheets near completion as I begin to think about what articles of clothing to design for final presentation and what story elements they will display. furthermore, I begin to seek out any other means to bring more life to the project by May, and what would need to be done to achieve this.
