(Update) League of Legends (Riot Games) X Louis Vuitton

February 5th — 12th, 2020

Continuing from last September of 2019, Riot Games and Louis Vuitton’s partnership has birthed another release in early February of 2020. This was a collaboration I spoke about in last semester’s IMM 498 final project proposal, and have been following since due to it’s relevance to my project aspirations. With French designer and LV creative director Nicolas Ghesquière as the lead designer, character (champion) Senna was next in the queue for a Louis Vuitton make-over. The LV inspired digital items (skins) can be purchased in-game and are complemented by an earlier release of a League of Legends inspired fashion collection available to purchase on Louis Vuitton's website.

For me, This project encapsulates the idea of fashion and creative media (in this case, gaming) working hand in hand to bring a new experience to the entertainment world. Just like with my Senior thesis, this project shows the relevance and demand for these kinds of creative ideas that build a strong relationship between the two mediums by digital and physical merchandising of fashion. What I plan to end up with by the beginning of May of 2020 is a project that uses these concepts of collaboration between fashion and Manga instead of gaming. I hope to keep my audience fully engaged visually through fashionable character design and mentally with compelling story elements. Though, I am weary of what new challenges may arise from a project with a new idea such as this one.
