Creep, 2014 Rated R for strong bloody horror violence, language, some drug use and sexual content (from Source IMDb). Directed by Patrick Brice. 1:22 minutes. I watched this film on Netflix but it can also be viewed on Prime Video, Vudu Movie, and Apple TV. Date of review: February 9th, 2022

Chilling yet comical, Creep will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, especially if you’re like me, and you like dark humor.

Josef in his Peach Fuzz mask

What is so interesting about this low budget film is that it consists of only two characters for basically the entire time, Josef, and Aaron, the guy who he has hired to film him for a day.Josef, played by Mark Duplass, hires Aaron to film him doing various activities for a day. He claims that he has terminal cancer and wants to be recorded for his unborn son who will not get to meet him.

Things get strange quickly, and the movie takes a scary turn when Aaron learns that Josef has been lying to him. The ending, which I will not spoil, is one of the most shocking conclusions to a movie I have ever seen. It is disturbing and can make you uncomfortable in a few scenes which may turn some viewers away.

This movie is different from other horror movies as it feels more realistic and is based more on psychological fear than visual fear.

It starts slow as it turns from a normal comedy feel to a concerning and frightening ending. It is unsettling and creepy, as it keeps you guessing the entire film until the last moment.

I enjoyed this film from start to finish. You will too.
