We are constantly bombarded with innovative technology, whether it’s the latest smartphone or a revolutionary new software. However, it’s really important to understand the ethical implications that technology has on humans. One way to look at this is like a movie about Artificial Intelligence in which tech has gone well beyond its expectations but its developers did not think through the affects it would have and eventually, the innovation gets completely out of hand.

When it comes to virtual reality, the main concern comes from issues based on human behavior and motivations. Developers must consider the problem of desensitization when placed in a virtual environment. Users are placed in a different world where there are no real-world consequences for your actions. This could possibly lead to similar behavior once they leave the game world. I don’t think that my thesis project will face too many ethical issues as it’s more a 3D guided tour than a first-person game.
