The audio visualizer projection project is a reactive animation experiment. Animations will be directly and instantaneously created from the audio input of the live performance of a solo musician. Transferred directly to the computer, and subsequently the animation software Magic via microphone, parameters of the musician’s live sound such as their rhythms, pitches, volume, and speed will directly correlate to creating a visual on the projector screen in the background for the audience to see as they listen to the music.

This project aims to expand the possibilities of audio/visual performances while reducing the stress on the performers involved. Performers who wish to have a visual behind them deal with the stress of timing with media crews and whether that media collaboration is working on top of the stress of a live performance. This visualizer project gives more power and control to the performer and opens the door to an incredible multimedia show.

As for current progress of the project, the first primary objective was finding a suitable animation software that can react the way I’ll need it to. With finding Magic, literally named a music visual software, this has been accomplished. From here, the software will be tested with a MIDI source before animation scenes are created for use in the final show.
