Immersion in Russia — Cheboksary

The history of the ancient city of Cheboksary started in the troubled time for Russia — in the middle of the XVI century. Ivan the Terrible himself issued a decree on the Foundation of the fortress on the great river Volga.

Have a look in the past and try to imagine the architectural ensemble behind the fortress walls. The Kremlin and other wooden buildings burned down during the fire, but there are still stone buildings of those times: the ancient Cathedral and the oldest prison in Europe.

Learn why Peter the Great got interested in the city and why Catherine the Great visited it. Walk along the route of the great Empress and look beyond the walls of the history.

Immerse with us in the cultural pearl of the Volga region!
