Fake funerals in South Korea

When it comes to transformational experience design, Kim-Ki Ho’s Death Meditations in Seoul are probably one of the most remarkable around. To combat South Korea’s high suicide rate, he lets people experience their last day on earth.

You contemplate the day about death. Write a letter for those that stay behind and actually lie down in your coffin to think about the life you had. When you emerge, obviously still alive, you have a renewed perspective and the opportunity to start over or at least do a few things different.

I cannot really imagine myself what the experience is like. I guess you’ll have to be there. But I can imagine that a day of truly thinking about the life you led and your inevitable demise can be quite revealing for some. Not to mention that at some point during the day, a small part of your brain probably starts thinking that this is the day you die. At which point things can get very real.
