If you are thinking of studying in Canada, read this article to know all about it. If you want to study in Canada for over 6 months, you need a study permit. But if you study for less than 6 months, you will not qualify for the work permit after the completion of your studies and also you won’t be able to work during your study period. This will affect your immigration process which you might consider after completion of your studies. So, obtaining a study permit is essential. Let us first see the process and then the steps involved.

The process of obtaining a study permit:

You need to get admitted to a college or university and get an acceptance letter from them. Then you need to apply for the study permit along with other documents like passport, proof of the funds you have to support yourself, etc which we will be discussing a little later.

Once your application has been verified and accepted, you will be provided a letter of introduction and along with the visitor visa or eTA whichever is needed for you. This letter is not your study permit. You will be able to travel with this letter and the visa or eTA. Once you arrive in Canada, the officer will check your documents and ask you a few questions.
