With a lot of fraudulent practices going on in the industry, it could be confusing how to choose the right consultant.   1. Work with licensed professionals

Not everyone can charge a fee for their immigration services. In Canada, only Lawyers and Paralegals who are members in good standing of a Canadian provincial or territorial law society and Immigration Consultants who are members in good standing of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) can provide immigration services for a fee except in Quebec where notaries can also provide immigration services.

All practising members have to be a member of a regulatory body which also means they have a membership ID. Ask for their membership ID and check on the website to find out if they are in good standing with the organization.
