Close your eyes and
breathe deeply, see
I see it clearly
Let’s go again we
I breathe you in
you me
because you love
me I love you
we shall create
something
wonderful
together we
from the two we
shall make the world
better
for the precious
one we
conceived
Remember to breathe
Pour all our love
into him
Who needs sleep?
Pennies in a jar
Piling towards
a down payment we
watch it grow
compounded we
watch him grow
counting sheep
Can’t wait to see
Oh, but, oh
Don’t worry
it will be
okay it always
I mean that’s what they say
I wanted
I wish
That is
I hope
Oh, no.
How?
What can we?
What can I
do?
He suffers so
privately
no tears
just no
laughter
He used to laugh
We used to make him laugh
It’s so
painful
What tugs him
tugs on me
his scrapes make
me bleed
I thought
that is
I thought we
made love
What brought
such misery
What did we
What have we
done?
We cannot trade
We cannot quit
We must
cut the cord
He must stand
on his own feet
He must own
his own
sorrow
Breathe.
