A forsaken smile crawls upon her face as she greets her past,
rushing with euphoria and glee; it’s his call that beacons her,
his call uplifts and fulfills her ever so; complimenting her every day,
this mistaken encounter solidifies in her prayers.

He has become but a memory in her mind’s foyer,
adorning her subconscious with abandoned promises and forsaken memories,
a bittersweet embodiment of what could have been dancing along the lines of what once was,
such heartbreak bears remorse, hidden within each shaking gasp she inhales.

The abundance of what tomorrow brought was intoxicating,
she relished the possibility of a storybook ending, a together nestled in between the lines of their union,
a quarrel of heart and unity that met fate with open arms,
such intrinsic compassion met no bounds in the face of her beloved.

It was for this man she rid herself of the conceptions of right and wrong.
She abandoned logic and married the notions of sentiment,
weaving together pieces of potential to blanket the truth,
ignorance was her bliss.

His memories echo now in yesterday’s silence,
an abyss of agony singing in her wake,
melodies whisper notes of a reality she never could fully realize,
she relishes the remains of their forgotten symphonies.
