An Ostrich with black and white feathers walking across the savanna

I want to be an Ostrich,
One who stands tall and proud,
With beautiful feathers to bring balance to my life,
Feathers once considered more expensive than gold.

I want to be an Ostrich,
Strong, resilient, a survivor of the world,
I may be heavy, but I’m tired of shrinking myself small,
Camouflaging my light in the shadows.

I want to be an Ostrich,
Nothing gets under my skin,
Always ready to face fear head on,
You can never sneak up on me.

I want to be an Ostrich,
I will stay and stand my ground,
I know I have wings and cannot fly,
But I can choose to make a paradise where I am right now.

I want to be an Ostrich,
Nobody messes with an Ostrich!
