You Are Poetry

A poem

perhaps you are poetry
worded to keep us both;
the secrets we are
and the ones we told.

the verses we vow,
so sacred they are
vibrantly revelling
into every page and retelling
when chanted and revealed
the message stays and hides
between our lips,
our promises,
our silences,
caressing the ones you traced
shadowing the rhymes you graced.

and you are poetry;
startlingly raw,
grudgingly freeing,
and free!

you are poetry
oh darling dear,
it is the marvel you are --
written for one
read for all.
penned so, to reflect
the readers and their moods,
and all the feelings denied.

what great fear
this intimacy,
the poem you are,
that I cannot see.
the lines you are,
that I cannot read.
the verses I cannot share,
rhymes I cannot pair.

the selfish heart feels --
aches and crossed.

perhaps you are poetry
worded like crossroads;
the love one versed,
and the ones reversed.

whoever, then, will read this poem,
the poet I am, both loved and tricked,
oh! little sunshine darling dear!
why are you fucking poetic?
