Before the Day

I want to stay here
Frozen in this moment
Quiet, under the quilt
Swallowed in predawn
Between night and day
Forgo my bustle
And play statue maker
With time

I want to hold the pose
As long as it takes
Until I step forward
Or fall
Whatever the case may be.
