I Don’t Want to People Today
A poem for all my fellow introverts
I don’t want to people today
I don’t want to come out and play
I don’t want to travel outside
I don’t want to confront the tide
I don’t want to see your outfit
I don’t want to know your secret
I don’t want to fake a nice smile
I don’t want to hang out awhile
I don’t want to give you applause
I don’t want to obey your laws
I don’t want to get too upset
I don’t want to need to forget
I don’t want to give you a ride
I don’t want to protect your pride
I don’t want to stand in your line
I don’t want to toast with red wine
I don’t want to sample your food
I don’t want to fix your bad mood
I don’t want to hear while you hum
I don’t want to know why you’re glum
Today’s too much, I cannot play
Please don’t make me people today
