30 Days of Writing on Medium: A Challenge

My biggest problem as a writer is that I hate pretty much everything I write. I can’t look at anything I’ve once it’s in print because it flares up my editing tic. I tried to read over some stuff I wrote for creative classes at uni 15 odd years ago, got one paragraph in, literally cringed, and had to shove it back the suitcase from whence it came.
I’m a perfectionist. It can be a problem. It’s probably the biggest hurdle I’m going to have to overcome if I’m going to build a career as a writer.
(Aside from anything else, if I were to calculate how much I got paid per hour — when I do actually get paid — after the compulsive editing and time spent staring at the computer debating whether a piece was actually ready for submission, I would probably cry.)
So, I’m setting myself a challenge to post something every day on Medium for the next 30 days in the hope that it will stop me obsessing so much before I let my little writing fledglings fly off on their own.
Rules: posts must be 200+ words and must still be of some interest/value — no spewing out complete rubbish just to through the challenge.
I’m also curious to see how 30 days of consistent posting will affect my Medium status. I read this post on What makes an article popular on Medium and apparently I’m doing EVERYTHING wrong. I’m shit at social media, playing the game bores me and I’m inherently cynical, but it’s time I learned.
If anyone would like to join me, that would be wonderful, just write a response to this and I’ll follow you. It’ll be fun!
