Last Thursday, the Meetup group that Tito and I manage, Climate Change + Tech, hosted a virtual event on our conference line. This isn’t the first time we’ve done a “blended realities” event — back in October we hosted a weekend-long “Fire Solutions Open Climate CoLab” experiment, using Google Hangouts, Meetup, and our space in San Francisco (link).

The objective was to align our actions by sharing our unique perspective on the questions:

What is climate change in 2018?

What are you doing about it?

Twenty four people joined the call, and twenty shared their perspective, from 4 time zones across 5 US states and three countries. Not bad, considering the call was only one hour.

They say necessity is the mother of invention. So let’s invent!

We convened farmers, climate reality experts, underrepresented groups, scientists, technologists, policy wonks, blockchain developers, designers, zero waste evangelists, educators, biologists, and more! All in an hour’s time.

This is climate 2.0. We know the climate has changed. Let’s talk about the opportunities we see in the world today and in the future.

What’s next?

The next call is on Thursday, March 22 at 5:30pm PST. RSVP here!

Whether or not you participated, you are welcome to check out the notes on Google Drive here.

If you participated, please fill out our short four question survey so we can make the next one even better (link)!
