1.4.0 Release, Market Supports Binance Data, Candy Bar Launched

Happy New Year to everyone! imToken will launch its first major upgrade in 2018 which called 1.4.0 Candy (internal codename). We are also pleased to announce that imToken has grown exceeded 20,000 daily users in the new year. I believe that it must be you, recommending imToken to your friends and families while we were busy building code. Give you all my appreciation and wishes again!

However, we did encounter new problems — unexpected users booming, network congestion, heavy server load, tickets backlog, etc. It makes our server a little bit unstable. The node data fell behind more than two thousand blocks last Tuesday morning, and that caused timeout or failure of the transaction data. Nearly three hours later, sync data finished, but double pay still existing because some users thought the transaction failed when seeing the trade show timeout.

It requires us to improve system stability continuously and help users understand the basic principles of wallet and blockchain. Here, we remind our users again, all your assets in the wallet are based on the blockchain, imToken just synchronizes blockchain data so that you can see it. If you have any uncertainties about your wallet please cross-check with other tools, such as Etherscan.

Over the past two weeks, we have worked overtime, expanded our servers, and increased our ability to serve high-concurrently, optimize block synchronization speed. So we released our new version 1.4.0, here are the improvements:

Node Pool

We have made the node service similar to the infura node pool service, which provides the Mainnet/Testnet nodes of Ethernet and bitcoins in the pool and will expand more of the other blockchains in the future. At the same time, the data synchronization script was optimized, the speed from 10 sec/block to now average 4 sec/block.

The goal of the node pool is to be stable and robust enough to accept high concurrently requests, which can be used by our partners and third-party DApp developers in the future.

The Front-end Optimization

To avoid users’ misunderstanding of the status of the transaction and repeated transfer, we added a double transfer tips in the new version.
We increased the protection of error messages returned by the exception node, optimized the error messages and makes it easier to understand.

Market Optimization

It has been more than 10,000 kinds of tokens discovered by our server. The exchange data of our current market channel is limited, so that the price cannot be displayed except for the mainstream tokens. Our new version has added the Binance exchange data, allowing more tokens to display the current market price, you can add it from top right corner in the market.

Candy Bar DApp

imToken team has been exploring decentralization applications, and our new version will launch the third DApp Candy Bar.Now you can get a fork token and airdrop Candy through Candy Bar with safely, conveniently and pleasantly. We will continue to increase the community’s candy and create more interesting candy plans.
