A new mobile-friendly ENS DApp powered by imToken

After two months of development, we officially launch ENS Pro DApp today. ENS Pro aims to provide user a mobile friendly DApp that can ease ENS auction process. Also it addresses the pain point of bid data lost or forgetting to reveal bid. With mnemonic words backup you can restore you bid at any time. With reminder set you won’t miss the opportunity to reveal your bids. ENS Pro would be your one stop to rule your ENS domains, we’re thrilling to announce that you can grab it from https://token.im today.

What is ENS?

The ENS is a system that was created to provide shorter, more human-friendly names in place of long addresses, such as ethereum wallet addresses or Swarm content hashes that are often used in the ethereum ecosystem. This process is not a sale: ENS names are not sold or leased by any party or entity. While the process of claiming a name involves locking and/or burning funds, these processes were created to disincentive spamming and try to it make so that names are only claimed by users who will make use of them. All ether spent on the process is either given back to the bidder after some time, sent to a burn address or sent to a miner.

What is the process like?

ENS determines a domain name if available or not by applying soft launch. It means that every domain name should have different launch time. The soft launch lasts 8 weeks. After that, every domain name will become available.

1 . Start an Auction / Place a Bid

Bidding period lasts 3 days (72 hours). You will enter the name, Bid Amount, “Disguise Bid” Amount, which is protected by a Secret Phrase.

This places your bid, but this information is kept secret until you reveal it. You shall take a screenshot to backup the bid secret data carefully in case of any data lost on the DApp client.

Set up calendar reminders after a successful backup. You can be notified when the 48 hours reveal period get started.

2 . Reveal your Bid

If you do not reveal your bid, you will not be refunded. Reveal Period lasts 2 days. In the event that two parties bid exactly the same amount, the first bid revealed will win.

3 . Finalize the Auction

Once the auction has ended (after 5 days / 120 hours), the winner needs to finalize the auction in order to claim their new name. The winner will be refunded the difference between their bid and the next-highest bid. If you are the only bidder, you will refunded all but 0.01 ETH.

How to set the domain name?

Resolver is used for resolving the ENS name, which return a address hash. You can map your ENS domain to a etherum address, set/map sub domains, transfer domains etc.

Firstly, you need to set a resolver. We suggest you to use the official public resolver if you haven’t set.

After doing so, you can map the ENS domain name to any hash address you want.

That’s it. imToken team is working tightly with supporting ENS domains. Without too long wait, you would use ENS name to send your ether. That’s most excited.
