Crypto Asia in Review

As imToken is based here in Asia, let us present what happened around us over the last weeks:

Here we go again. Meitu bought another $10 million of bitcoin, which should have already made profits of more than 200% its annual net profit in 2020 with its earlier investment. (More.) See more Bitcoin hodling companies: bitcointreasuries.org .

The price gap between Korean and western exchanges, called Kimchi premium, climbed to a three-year high of 22%, caused by high demand for crypto from Korean investors. A pullback to 16% followed when someone found ways to arbitrage the difference in price and the Korean exchange Upbit announced withdrawal suspension. (More)

Traditional auction houses are FOMO-ing into NFTs. Yongle, one of China’s most established auction houses, plans a special session on NFTs during its famous, annual Spring Auction, following in the steps of Christie’s and Sotheby’s. (More)

Chinese lottery company 500.com Limited announced its acquisition of a major mining pool with links to Jihan Wu’s Bitfawn. Shares climbed 38.9% that day. (More)

Six major state-owned banks have started to promote digital RMB wallets and open a whitelist of applications. Customers can apply for a whitelist and participate in the test by setting up a bank sub-wallet in the central bank’s digital RMB APP. (More)
