Are you tired of doing the same old leg exercises every day? Do you find yourself plateauing with your conditioning? Well, I want to help mix things up with three athletic-based drills that will not only boost strength but also foster injury prevention and functional health. These exercises are by no means easy, but they’re worth the investment as you build a body fit to tackle whatever challenge you throw at it.

Let’s jump right into it and build you up to be the best athlete you can be!

Challenge Your Limits & Step Up Your Leg Day

Just as a quick note (or perhaps a warning), this program isn’t for the faint of heart. It hits the quads, hamstrings, and hips and hits them hard. Consequently, if you have any leg injuries or chronic conditions that may put you at risk during physical activity, talk to a doctor or physical therapist before getting started. Additionally, if you’re more of a novice, take a look at my alternative program here to get you started with the basics of lower body strengthening.

Before doing the routine, ensure you complete a strong warm-up. I’ve attached a couple of movements below to give you some ideas. For the best results, try this routine 2–3 times per week! If you have any modification requests, let me know and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Now without further ado, let’s get into the fun stuff!

Warm-Up 1) Assisted Quad Stretch

10 reps/side

All you need for this movement is a chair and mat. To get into position, place the top of your back foot on the seat while the front leg takes the shape of a lunge. Next, lean slightly forward while rotating the pelvis back to lengthen out the hip flexor and quads in a safe, functional way. Hold for 2–3 seconds at the deepest position and then return to neutral in preparation for your next rep.
