We’ve all experienced what I like to call a “breakfast funk”. This is what happens when your morning routine is comprised of the same old breakfast every day. For me, it was countless mornings of scrambled eggs and toasted white bread. For you, it could be a never-ending cycle of cold cereal or pop tarts and coffee.

No matter what it is, a breakfast funk isn’t good for you. I get it. Everyday life is busy and hectic as it is, why make breakfast another thing you have to worry about?

The answer is simple, breakfast is the most important meal of the day for a reason. It’s meant to break the night’s fast, replenish your energy supply, and supply most of the nutrients you need for the day. Limiting your breakfast to one particular group can greatly disadvantage your nutrient intake. It can also be an incredibly boring way to start your day.

Shaking up your breakfast routine doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. In fact, there are some pretty cheap superfoods that you can add to any breakfast to increase their nutritional value and taste. In this blog, we’ll discuss just six of these superfoods that will turn your breakfast funk around.

What is a superfood?

A superfood is any nutrient-rich food that improves your health. They’re important, so we can ensure the proper dietary intake of nutrients to keep us energized and feeling good throughout the day.

Yogurt

Yogurt is an incredibly versatile and tasty superfood that can transform any breakfast in a pinch. It’s rich in calcium along with other vitamins and minerals that help with bone and teeth strength along with probiotics that boost the immune system.

It’s also a great “on the go” snack as they often come in a portable container you can stuff into your bag on the way out the door. It’s a tasty breakfast item that shouldn’t be ignored when choosing the right way to start your day.

Nut Butter

Nut butters are incredibly useful when crafting an interesting breakfast. They come in different varieties like peanut butter, cashew butter, or even almond butter, and can be applied to many different kinds of foods. They’re often full of proteins and offer a rich creamy texture to whatever they’ve been added to.

For instance, you can add peanut butter to bananas and apples for a delicious combination you would have never expected. You can also add nut butter to your smoothie or cereal. The possibilities are endless.

Eggs

Eggs are the most common breakfast item, so it’s easy to take their incredible nutritional value for granted. They offer important vitamins and minerals while remaining affordable, versatile, and easy to make.

Adding an egg to your toast or even as a side dish can taste incredible while increasing your intake of nutrients.

Berries

Berries of all kinds are great superfoods that you can find at almost any local market. They’re full of antioxidants and fiber which can help your immune and digestive systems respectively.

They also add some sweetness and flavor to anything they’re put in. This can limit the added sugars in any meal you put together. Adding berries is a great way to add some versatility and sweetness to your day.

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are rich in omega-3 and fatty acids which help protect your body from disease and illness. It’s an incredible superfood that can be put into things like smoothies to add just a bit more nutritional value.

Oats

Oats are yet another popular breakfast food rich in nutrients and beneficial to your health and well-being. It’s incredibly versatile as it can be eaten as a cereal, baked into granola, or even added to a smoothie to enhance its thickness.

Conclusion

Your breakfast doesn’t have to be boring or repetitive. Incorporating even one of these superfoods into your diet can be a total game changer for your health.

Don’t neglect your health by ignoring your breakfast routine, and add some of these superfoods to your diet today!
